Frequently Asked Questions
Your head spa questions, answered
First time at a head spa? Here is what to expect at Haloura in Great Neck.
About the head spa
What is a head spa?
A head spa is a treatment for the scalp, the way a facial is a treatment for the face. At Haloura it includes deep scalp cleansing, warm steam, a long head massage, a neck and shoulder massage and a continuous warm-water rinse on our dual waterfall bed, finished with a hair wash and blow-dry.
How is Haloura different from other head spas?
We focus on professional scalp care as well as relaxation. Our specialized programs begin with a professional scalp analysis, we offer three signature rituals (herbal, rose and ginger) for different scalp types, and we use professional scalp care products, hydrating and nourishing essences, LED scalp light therapy, steam and dual waterfall water therapy.
Which head spa should I choose: herbal, rose or ginger?
Choose Herbal Detox for an oily scalp, buildup or flakes; Flora (rose) for a dry, tight scalp that needs hydration; and Ginger Revival for a warming, revitalizing ritual that encourages local circulation. If you are unsure, tell us at check-in and we will recommend one.
How long does a head spa take?
Our signature rituals are 60 minutes, and the HALO Scalp Light Therapy ritual is 90 minutes. Please allow a few extra minutes for check-in and the blow-dry at the end.
How much does a head spa cost?
Signature head spas are $119 (Herbal Detox), $129 (Flora rose) and $139 (Ginger Revival). The 90-minute HALO Scalp Light Therapy is $198. Specialized scalp programs range from $248 to $328, and packages start at $159. See the full menu.
Will my hair be styled afterwards?
Every head spa ends with a hair wash and blow-dry, so you can go straight back to your day.
Scalp care
What happens during a scalp analysis?
Your therapist examines your scalp and hair roots closely and explains what they see: oil, buildup, flakes, dryness, sensitivity or areas where hair looks finer. The analysis is included in our specialized scalp programs and helps us choose the right care for you.
Can a head spa help with dandruff?
Our Herbal Detox ritual and the Dandruff Clear program deeply cleanse the scalp, remove buildup and use a specialized essence to help reduce visible flakes. Many flake problems improve with regular cleansing and good home care. If you have a persistent or itchy scalp condition, we recommend seeing a dermatologist as well.
Do you treat hair loss?
Our scalp programs are cosmetic and wellness services, not medical treatments. The Scalp Renewal Infusion uses scalp analysis, deep cleansing, precision infusion of a premium essence and LED red light to support a healthy scalp environment and fuller-looking hair. For sudden or patchy hair loss, please see a doctor first.
What is LED scalp light therapy?
LED scalp light therapy uses gentle LED and red light over the scalp. It is warm, painless and relaxing, with no downtime. It is included in our specialized programs and the HALO Scalp Light Therapy ritual, or you can add a 30-minute Nano Scalp Light Therapy session for $79.
How often should I come?
For general relaxation and scalp health, many people enjoy a head spa every 3 to 4 weeks. For specific concerns such as flakes or thinning-looking hair, a closer series of visits usually works better. We will suggest a schedule after your scalp analysis.
Facials, body & sauna
What products do you use for facials?
Our facials use Korean professional salon skincare products, combined with Korean skincare techniques and professional facial massage. We choose the treatment for your skin type.
What is in the Body Renewal Therapy?
Body Renewal Therapy is a 60-minute body ritual ($129) that combines soothing massage with warm compresses, hot stone therapy and warm salt therapy to relax tight muscles, ease fatigue and stress and encourage local circulation.
Is the infrared sauna pod suitable for everyone?
Most healthy adults enjoy it. If you are pregnant, have heart or blood pressure conditions, or take medication that affects heat tolerance, please check with your doctor first and let us know before your session.
